#WhyIVolunteer – Volunteer Spotlight: Beth Richardson
Meet Beth Richardson! She is a dedicated Election Protection volunteer.
What is your name and where are you from?
- Beth Richardson. I live in Alexandria, VA.
How many years have you been volunteering?
- I think this is my sixth year.
How many hours have you done?
- Oh, Lord, I don’t know. Lots of hours. Maybe 1000, I really have no idea.
What is one thing that you have learned from your time volunteering that you wish to share with others?
- Well it is not complicated, but how messed up it is that there are so many different systems for voting all over the country and you know, the shame that it is so hard to vote and so many places that it’s made so, so difficult.
Why should people get out there and vote?
- Well, if they want to have any kind of say in what’s going to happen to them in their life, they should, you know, get out and vote. I know a lot of people think, you know, they’ll only vote for in the big one, but you need to vote both in the local and state because that’s where things that are going to affect you happen.
