#WhyIVolunteer – Volunteer Spotlight: Amy Dudash
Meet Amy Dudash! She is a dedicated Election Protection volunteer.
What is your name and where are you from?
- Amy Dudash and I’m originally from Pittsburgh, PA but I currently live in Wilmington, DE.
When did you start volunteering and how long have you been volunteering?
- So I’ve been volunteering since 2020. Since the 2020 election and kind of straight through from that time to now,
How many hours would you say that you have volunteered?
- Ohh, gosh, over the years, it’s probably actually been a couple of hundred. A lot of the organization. I’m so happy to be a part of it. That’s amazing.
What’s one thing that you have learned from your time volunteering that you wish to share with others?
- Just how much need there is to ensure that we have safe and fair elections. We get calls from all across the country and it’s just incredible the value of just being a voice that someone can call and lean on in a time of need when they’re voting or trying to get ready to vote, and just what a big impact just being there for someone can make.
Amazing how can people get involved with volunteering?
- so they can go to the 866 our vote website and there are tabs there about volunteering. There are great opportunities for I’m a lawyer and other non lawyers but also people that are interested in being poll monitors and non legal roles as well. There’s definitely something for everybody so I would encourage everyone to get out there and volunteer. There’s a lot of need and a lot of great talent out there.
Why do you think people should vote?
- I mean, it is just, you know, people died for our right to do it. It’s just such an incredible honor and opportunity to do it. And it really is the one way that you can have a say in sort of the government and that impacts everybody’s life. Even if you don’t think about it or realize it, It impacts your life in a lot more ways than I think we appreciate, but it’s our one opportunity to really have our voice be heard 100%..
